Reflection Unit 2

In this unit we learned how teachers assess informally. We think that this information is important for teachers in general not only for English teachers. It is also important for students because sometimes they don`t know how they will be assessed and this should not be. Obviously, explaining students the assessments criteria will make them work harder, put more effort in classroom activities, and have better attitudes.

This knowledge reminded us of the importance of being objective and having clear criteria in informal assessment, but also how having all the information written down can come in handy when there is a problem, for example, a complaint. We liked the importance given to informal assessment because we think that only combining both formal and informal assessment is a fair way to assess students.

This unit had some activities that took a lot of time and effort in order to accomplish, but it has been a very interesting unit and has taught us a lot.

Attitude: Students will get 5 points if they listen respectfully to the teacher and fellow students, show enthusiasm, arrive to class on time, ask for permission when they want to go to the bathroom or do any other activity like asking for an eraser, etc.

Homework: Students will get 15 points if they complete all the homework that was assigned. Mistakes do not lower the points because the effort is what counts. Forgotten homework will lower the grade 3 points. Late assignments will receive only 1 point.

Thank you for the assignment. It is complete and well developed. I would just like to comment that in the homework (15 points)) I would make a rubric for each of the 5 activities that would be assessed as homework. The rest looks fine!
